Van è pronto a dare la vita, ma gli viene risparmiata, poiché viene fatto prigioniero per poi venire schiavizzato in una miniera di sale. Una notte un branco di strani cani attacca la miniera, facendo scoppiare un’epidemia. Van sfrutta la confusione per scappare e durante la fuga incontra una ragazzina. Intanto si diffonde la voce che solo gli immigrati vengono infettati dalla piaga e il medico Hossal, scienziato e ricercatore, rischia la sua vita per trovare una cura. Il gruppo di ricerca è particolarmente interessato allo studio del caso di un padre e un figlio che sono sopravvissuti alla misteriosa malattia.
