Generator Gawl è una serie anime in 12 parti del 1998. La storia è ambientata nel 2007, quando il professor Takuma Nekasa scopre un codice genetico che svela il più grande mistero del corpo umano ed espone l'umanità alla sua più grande minaccia. Di conseguenza, Gawl, Koji e Ryo, tre giovani scienziati di un'epoca futura, hanno viaggiato indietro nel tempo per rimediare a questo errore. Anche se il trio intendeva arrivare un anno prima della calamità, sono invece trasportati tre mesi prima dell'evento. Nel loro tentativo di salvare il mondo, sono contrastati dalla misteriosa e astuta Ryuko Saito, una scienziata che preferisce il futuro così com'è. Saito è assistita dai Generatori, assassini ultraterreni che si fingono umani. Mentre Ryo e Koji cercano di completare la loro missione, Gawl stesso deve "generare", diventando come i suoi nemici per combattere alle loro condizioni.

After arriving in the past and defeating a Generator that followed them, Koji, Ryo, and Gawl go in search of information. Gawl runs off in search of food as Koji and Ryo hack into the city's system and find the lab where the thing that they have come to stop, starts. Gawl runs into trouble when he is caught staring into a fast food restaurant by Masami and is arrested when she accuses him of being the "fast food stalker." Koji and Ryo clear his name by making up a story about their orphanage burning down. They are given new IDs and find a place to stay, which to Gawl's disgust, is also the home of Masami. 1: The Visitors
