Dramma
Il diciassettenne Fabietto Schisa è un ragazzo goffo che lotta per trovare il suo posto nel mondo, ma che trova gioia in una famiglia straordinaria e amante della vita. Fino a quando alcuni eventi cambiano tutto. Uno è l'arrivo a Napoli di una leggenda dello sport simile a un dio: l'idolo del calcio Maradona, che suscita in Fabietto, e nell'intera città, un orgoglio che un tempo sembrava impossibile. L'altro è un drammatico incidente che farà toccare a Fabietto il fondo, indicandogli la strada per il suo futuro. Apparentemente salvato da Maradona, toccato dal caso o dalla mano di Dio, Fabietto lotta con la natura del destino, la confusione della perdita e l'inebriante libertà di essere vivi.

I Seven Deadly Sins erano un gruppo di sette cavalieri, considerati i più forti della regione della Britannia, ognuno dei quali rappresentava uno dei sette peccati capitali, per via di una colpa da loro commessa in passato. Il gruppo fu tuttavia sciolto dopo aver ordito apparentemente una cospirazione allo scopo di rovesciare il regno di Lionesse (リオネス王国 Rionesu ōkoku?), uccidendo l'allora Gran Cavaliere Sacro, Zaratras. La loro presunta sconfitta avvenne per mano dei Cavalieri Sacri (聖騎士 Seikishi?) del regno. I sette si dispersero e su di loro venne messa una taglia, ma col passare del tempo iniziò a girare voce che in realtà questi sette guerrieri leggendari fossero ancora in vita. Dieci anni dopo, i Cavalieri Sacri organizzano un colpo di Stato catturando il re, diventando così i nuovi governanti tirannici del paese. Elizabeth, la figlia più giovane del re, non ha quindi altra scelta che fuggire dal castello reale e mettersi alla ricerca dei Seven Deadly Sins, con la speranza che siano davvero ancora vivi e che siano disposti ad aiutarla.

Hanamichi Sakuragi è un giovane teppista attaccabrighe che si iscrive al primo anno della scuola superiore Shohoku, nella prefettura di Kanagawa. È particolarmente sfortunato con le ragazze e ciò lo rende il triste bersaglio delle ripetute prese in giro da parte dei suoi amici Mito, Okusu, Takamiya e Noma. Dopo essere stato scaricato da una ragazza che era innamorata di un giocatore di basket, Hanamichi inizia ad odiare visceralmente questo sport; le cose, tuttavia, cambiano quando incontra Haruko Akagi, matricola come lui e appassionata di pallacanestro: la ragazza, infatti, lo incoraggia ad entrare nella squadra di basket della scuola impressionata dalla sua altezza e dalla sua prestanza fisica. Hanamichi se ne innamora perdutamente e accetta solo per poterla conquistare.
