5. Soul Asylum - Grave Dancers Union (2022 Remaster) 192-24 Country: USA Genre: Alternative Rock Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [192kHz/24 bit] Time: 45:01 Full Size: 1.7 GB Grave Dancers Union is the sixth studio album by the American Alternative Rock band Soul Asylum, released in 1992. The album spent 76 weeks on the Billboard music charts and was certified triple-Platinum in 1993, establishing Soul Asylum as one of the most successful Rock groups of the first half of the 1990s. The album yielded the mega-hit "Runaway Train", which by winning a Grammy, put the band in a whole new league. "Soul Asylum's breakthrough, million-selling Grave Dancers Union yielded the mega-hit "Runaway Train" and put the band in a whole new league; longtime fans were predictably disappointed with the slick results. This is a solid alternative rock record with singer/songwriter/vocalist Dave Pirner upfront, a role he was built for but always seemed to resist until this clear do-or-die moment for the band. Soul Asylum did; however, they never matched the success or consistency of this album. Tracks like "Home Sick" and "New World" bear the roots of the country-rock revival later forged by Son Volt and Wilco, while the angst-ridden "Somebody to Shove" is pure joy Soul Asylum-style." 7. Pearl Jam - Pearl Jam 2006 (Brendan O'Brien Mix) (2017) 192-24 Country: USA Genre: Rock Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [192 kHz/24 bit] Time: 49:31 Full Size: 1.98 GB Nearly 15 years after Ten, Pearl Jam finally returned to the strengths of their debut with 2006's Pearl Jam, a sharply focused set of impassioned hard rock. Gone are the arty detours (some call them affectations) that alternately cluttered and enhanced their albums from 1993's sophomore effort, Vs., all the way to 2002's Riot Act, and what's left behind is nothing but the basics: muscular, mildly meandering rock & roll, enlivened by Eddie Vedder's bracing sincerity. Pearl Jam has never sounded as hard or direct as they do here -- even on Ten there was an elasticity to the music, due in large part to Jeff Ament's winding fretless bass, that kept the record from sounding like a direct hit to the gut, which Pearl Jam certainly does. Nowhere does it sound more forceful than it does in its first half, when the tightly controlled rockers "Life Wasted," "World Wide Suicide," "Comatose," "Severed Hand," and "Marker in the Sand" pile up on top of each other, giving the record a genuine feeling of urgency. That insistent quality and sense of purpose doesn't let up even as they slide into the quite beautiful, lightly psychedelic acoustic pop of "Parachutes," which is when the album begins to open up slightly. If the second half of the record does have a greater variety of tempos than the first, it's still heavy on rockers, ranging from the ironic easy swagger of "Unemployable" to the furious "Big Wave," which helps set the stage for the twin closers of "Come Back" and "Inside Job." The former is a slow-burning cousin to "Black" that finds Pearl Jam seamlessly incorporating soul into their sound, while the latter is a deliberately escalating epic that gracefully closes the album on a hopeful note -- and coming after an album filled with righteous anger and frustration, it is indeed welcome. But Pearl Jam's anger on this eponymous album is not only largely invigorating, it is the opposite of the tortured introspection of their first records. Here, Vedder turns his attention to the world at large, and while he certainly rages against the state of W's union in 2006, he's hardly myopic or strident; he's alternately evocative and specific, giving this album a resonance that has been lacking in most protest rock of the 2000s. But what makes Pearl Jam such an effective record is that it can be easily enjoyed as sheer music without ever digging into Vedder's lyrics. Song for song, this is their best set since Vitalogy, and the band has never sounded so purposeful on record as they do here, nor have they ever delivered a record as consistent as this. And the thing that makes the record work exceptionally well is that Pearl Jam has embraced everything they do well, whether it's their classicist hard rock or heart-on-sleeve humanitarianism. In doing so, they seem kind of old fashioned, reaffirming that they are now thoroughly outside of the mainstream -- spending well over a decade galloping away from any trace of popularity will inevitably make you an outsider -- but on their own terms, Pearl Jam hasn't sounded as alive or engaging as they do here since at least Vitalogy, if not longer. © Stephen Thomas Erlewine /TiVo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qM_WVlep0g https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Nv-IuZRlu4 Download from HotLink https://hotlink.cc/folder/30ec6492-ff8c-11ec-a2c7-0cc47ac4f47e
8. Thin Lizzy - Thunder And Lightning (2013) 192-24 Country: Ireland Genre: Hard Rock Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [192 kHz/24 bit] Time: 40:33 Full Size: 1.45 GB Thin Lizzy's final studio release, Thunder and Lightning, was their most consistent album since 1979's Black Rose. Guitarist John Sykes replaced Snowy White, and the new blood must have inspired Lynott and company to write some of their best compositions in years. Although a pop-metal production hinders the tracks, there's more of a harder edge present than on their last release, Renegade. While the title track served as the ensuing tour's raging opener, half-baked lyrics detailing a fistfight and an unwarranted synth-solo weakens what should have been a straight-ahead rocker. But such heavies as "This Is the One" and "Cold Sweat" suit the band much better. Lizzy takes a stab at dance-rock with "The Holy War," while laying back with the tranquil "The Sun Goes Down" and the album's underrated highlight, the melodic "Bad Habits." Like Lizzy's other '80s releases, filler is present -- "Someday She Is Going to Hit Back" and "Heart Attack" and disappointingly, guitarist Scott Gorham abandons his trademark harmony leads of yesteryear in favor of '80s-era high-tech shredding. © Greg Prato /TiVo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQRBgOfU-UI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMxn2bJQayI Download from HotLink https://www.keeplinks.org/p72/63cbe9e45f505
9. Ramones - Subterranean Jungle 1983 (2013) 192-24 Country: USA Genre: Punk Rock Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [192 kHz/24 bit] Time: 33:24 Full Size: 1.35 GB Tentatively returning toward punk, or at least new wave, the Ramones turned in their most enjoyable record since Rocket to Russia with Subterranean Jungle. Producers Ritchie Cordell and Glen Kolotkin were the heads of the edgy power pop and punk label Bomp!, so they steered the Ramones back toward the '60s pop infatuation that provided the foundation for their early records. It's a strategy that pays off well -- for the most part, the group's originals are so punchy and catchy that they make the pair of covers superfluous. Comprised of a set of unabashedly hook-laden songs and driven by more subtle rhythms, Subterranean Jungle may not be a punk record in the strictest sense of the word, yet the Ramones haven't sounded quite as alive in a long, long while. --Stephen Thomas Erlewine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2WYLSXJVpI Download from HotLink https://hotlink.cc/folder/9a037f05-e034-11ec-a2c7-0cc47ac4f47e

11. Grand Funk Railroad - Grand Funk Lives [1981] (2005) 192-24 Country: USA Genre: Hard Rock Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [192kHz/24 bit] Time: 36:17 Full Size: 1.43 GB Rising like a Phoenix, which was the title of one of their previous albums, perhaps Mark Farner is sending a subliminal message with opening track "Good Times" that his "Bad Time" is over? The song "Testify," track three, sums up this very good album from Mark Farner, Don Brewer, and bassist Dennis Bellinger replacing the MIA Mel Schacher. It's a hooky rock tune with Farner's religious overtones. All these tracks are strong, from "Can't Be With You Tonight" to the glorious ending of "Wait for Me." The no-nonsense production of manager Andrew Cavaliere -- shades of Terry Knight! --- and Bob Destocki, lets Farner and Brewer shine. This album is like a subdued version of the Grand Funk classic Survival. In fact, both Survival and Grand Funk Lives are underrated, not just among Grand Funk fans. Where the first Mark Farner solo album, produced by Dick Wagner, had more of a bluesy feel in 1977, and 1978's Flint by Brewer and company sounded like a stab in the dark, this collection rocks. "Queen Bee" has riffs taken from Black Sabbath and Uriah Heep, specifically the ending of the song; "Black Sabbath meets Heep's "Easy Livin'," with Farner's pop influences glossing it up. "We Gotta Get out of This Place" has more in common with a hard-rocking Young Rascals than the Animals or David Johansen. "Y.O.U." is almost there, halfway to a hit, missing the strength of producers Jimmy Ienner, Todd Rundgren, heck, even Frank Zappa might've lifted this track into the Top 40. The restrained production on the rest of the album is a plus except for "Y.O.U.," which needed just a bit more. "Stuck in the Middle" is fun Mark Farner, and is perhaps the best track on this excellent outing. Heavy keyboards, a great hook, and thick chorus -- a nice sequel to Funk's 1975 hit "Bad Time." "Greed of Man" goes back to the harder preaching of original GFR. All tunes except the cover of "We Gotta Get out of This Place" were written by Farner, who closes out the album with the introspective "Wait for Me." In a world mutated by Guns N' Roses, Nirvana, and Aerosmith gone pop, Grand Funk Railroad kept the flame of hard rock lit with this solid disc. It's too bad it didn't reach a larger audience. © Joe Viglione /TiVo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vlwa9E1vfo8 Download from HotLink https://hotlink.cc/folder/57963dc1-ada5-11ec-a2c7-0cc47ac4f47e
12. Megadeth - Rust in Peace [1990] (2016) 192-24 Country: USA Genre: Thrash Metal Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [192 kHz/24 bit] Time: 40:38 Full Size: 1.77 GB A sobered-up Mustaine returns with yet another lineup, this one featuring ex-Cacophony guitar virtuoso Marty Friedman and drummer Nick Menza, for what is easily Megadeth's strongest musical effort. As Metallica was then doing, Mustaine accentuates the progressive tendencies of his compositions, producing rhythmically complex, technically challenging thrash suites that he and Friedman burn through with impeccable execution and jaw-dropping skill. Thanks to Mustaine's focus on the music rather than his sometimes clumsy lyrics, Rust in Peace arguably holds up better than any other Megadeth release, even for listeners who think they've outgrown heavy metal. While the whole album is consistently impressive, the obvious highlight is the epic, Eastern-tinged "Hangar 18." © Steve Huey /TiVo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUGIocJK9Tc&list=OLAK5uy_lBLXRW43EViiE9xRRCR6l1Ghtj1Ko6Mhc&index=2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3NMhe6mWO8 Download from HotLink https://hotlink.cc/folder/e4b33b3c-2f8c-11ed-a2c7-0cc47ac4f47e

Released on vinyl for the first time, the 13 tracks on this LP are an unprecedented addition to Reed's rock and roll life on record. 18. Tedeschi Trucks Band - I Am The Moon IV. Farewell (2022) 192-24 Country: USA Genre: Rock,Blues Rock Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [192 kHz/24 bit] Time: 29:05 Full Size: 1002.62 MB What makes it obvious that this is the closing chapter of the Tedeschi Trucks Band's ambitious multi-volume project keyed to the phases of the moon? Well, nothing actually. The story, which revolves around a 12th century Sufi poem, became less clear and less of a motivating factor as the albums continued. These are simply four sets of love songs, all of them beautifully sung and played, but very much inside the same southern jam rock/R&B wheelhouse that the band has always operated. Susan Tedeschi's voice is reason enough to listen to any Tedeschi Trucks Band recording but it's not clear that over two hours of music released over three months won't be received as a numbing avalanche. Given that the material on all these volumes is similar the whole way through, that fatigue sets in early with I Am The Moon IV. Farewell. Like the previous three volumes, the finale benefits from the full sound, good recording quality and instrumental variety generated by the 12-piece version of the band. Having five capable vocalists available, especially for a recording project of this size, can never be a bad thing. While the music may have been a secondary concern to the films they are meant to accompany, as well as templates for the live jams they will evolve into, easy-going blues tunes like "Last Night In The Rain" that Tedeschi nails vocally in clever stanzas ("Went down to the station/ To catch the morning train/ One ticket to lonely/ One ticket to Spain") are the band at their best. "Soul Sweet Song" is an amiable, bouncy, light R&B number. And "Where Are My Friends?"-written and sung by vocalist/guitarist Mike Mattison-has a chorus line ("At the heart of the matter") that is one of the entire project's most memorable and connected moments. Less a journey than a mass of material composed during the pandemic-enforced downtime, I Am The Moon could have been cut down into a killer single or very solid double album. © Robert Baird/Qobuz https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dd3E82oNrxQ&t=8s Download from HotLink https://hotlink.cc/folder/625eefee-e8b9-11eb-a971-0cc47ac4f47e

20. Journey - Escape 1981 (Remaster) (2022) 192-24 Country: USA Genre: Rock,Progressive rock,Hard Rock Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [192 kHz/24 bit] Time: 42:35 Full Size: 1.68 GB Whether you love them or hate them, the members of Journey continue to make music that is right in the groove of AOR and mass-appeal playlists. With each album, the San Francisco group gains more momentum and Escape continues that trend. History has been kind to Escape. As far back as 1988 the readers of Kerrang! voted it AOR's greatest album, and there it remains, probably in perpetuity. But beyond the confines of genre it has enjoyed an afterlife bathed in nostalgia for the version of American youth that it captured, a time long gone except in the memory. "Escape was a groundbreaking album for San Francisco's Journey, charting three singles inside Billboard's Top Ten, with "Don't Stop Believing" reaching number nine, "Who's Crying Now" number four, and "Open Arms" peaking at number two and holding there for six weeks. Escape flung Journey steadfastly into the AOR arena, combining Neal Schon's grand yet palatable guitar playing with Jonathan Cain's blatant keyboards. All this was topped off by the passionate, wide-ranged vocals of Steve Perry, who is the true lifeblood of this album, and this band. The songs on Escape are more rock-flavored, with more hooks and a harder cadence compared to their former sound. "Who's Crying Now" spotlights the sweeping fervor of Perry's voice, whose theme about the ups and downs of a relationship was plentiful in Journey's repertoire. With "Don't Stop Believing," the whisper of Perry's ardor is crept up to with Schon's searing electric guitar work, making for a perfect rock song. One of rock's most beautiful ballads, "Open Arms," gleams with an honesty and feel only Steve Perry could muster. Outside of the singles, there is a certain electricity that circulates through the rest of the album. The songs are timeless, and as a whole, they have a way of rekindling the innocence of youthful romance and the rebelliousness of growing up, built from heartfelt songwriting and sturdy musicianship." 21. Electric Light Orchestra - Eldorado (1974) (2015) 192-24 Country: UK Genre: Progressive rock,Symphonic rock Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [192 kHz/24 bit] Time: 39:07 Full Size: 1.46 GB This is the album where Jeff Lynne finally found the sound he'd wanted since co-founding Electric Light Orchestra three years earlier. Up to this point, most of the group's music had been self-contained -- Lynne, Richard Tandy, et al., providing whatever was needed, vocally or instrumentally, even if it meant overdubbing their work layer upon layer. Lynne saw the limitations of this process, however, and opted for the presence of an orchestra -- it was only 30 pieces, but the result was a much richer musical palette than the group had ever had to work with, and their most ambitious and successful record up to that time. Indeed, Eldorado was strongly reminiscent in some ways of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Not that it could ever have the same impact or be as distinctive, but it had its feet planted in so many richly melodic and varied musical traditions, yet made it all work in a rock context, that it did recall the Beatles classic. It was a very romantic work, especially on the opening "Eldorado Overture," which was steeped in a wistful 1920s/1930s notion of popular fantasy (embodied in movies and novels like James Hilton's Lost Horizon and Somerset Maugham's The Razor's Edge) about disillusioned seekers. It boasted Lynne's best single up to that time, "Can't Get It Out of My Head," which most radio listeners could never get out of their respective heads, either. The integration of the orchestra would become even more thorough on future albums, but Eldorado was notable for mixing the band and orchestra (and a choir) in ways that did no violence to the best elements of both. © Bruce Eder /TiVo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kMxaf_Mc9lA&list=OLAK5uy_mYzF9K-cM9KmSxAbXUPsgxg4bD_5GjXoY&index=3&t=251s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atOsiuv1Pjk Download from HotLink https://hotlink.cc/folder/0ba9f8ec-daad-11ec-a2c7-0cc47ac4f47e
