7. Wilco - Cruel Country (2022) 96-24 Country: USA Genre: Alternative rock,Indie Rock,Country Rock Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [96 kHz/24 bit] Time: 01:17:04 Full Size: 1.78 GB Much will be made of Wilco recording a "country" album. Frontman Jeff Tweedy has said that "country music is simply designed to aim squarely at the low-hanging fruit of the truth"-but that's an idealistic vision that isn't always true any more. It's more that the genre understands universality, creating a fantasy of what love should be, of revenge, of a simpler life and time to enjoy it (even if it's just long enough for a cold beer). Or, too often, the "truth" is little more than a furrowed eyebrow sighing for three minutes over something truly horrible in the world. Thank goodness Wilco doesn't seem to know this. This record is brutally, beautifully honest. "I don't mind/ When certain people die/ I can't cry/ I wonder why," Tweedy sings on the lazily dreamy "Hearts Hard to Find," confessing something no one is supposed to say out loud. "It's worse than neglected when you need the one who loves no more," he describes Southern border migration on "I Am My Mother." "There is no middle/ When the other side would rather kill than compromise," goes "Hints," an easy connect-the-dots to Mermaid Avenue, the band's Woody Guthrie project with Billy Bragg-and it doesn't get more authentically American or country than Guthrie (even if the genre remains sheepish about Guthrie's socialism). Wilco's music has always had trace elements of the Grateful Dead-which is, as Margo Price brilliantly put it, "country music for people who also like LSD." (In the case of Wilco, it's probably more like Dad Grass.) You can hear it on the title track with its loose and jangling beat, or the sweet and easy skiffle of "All Across the World." "Many Worlds," meanwhile, is a seven-minute-long countrified trip that deserves its own laser show. ("When I look at the sky/ I think of all the stars that've died," Tweedy sings, securing his place as the alt-rock Eeyore.) And when the band doubles down on country sounds, it's a delight. "A Lifetime to Find" is great, an upbeat honky-tonk exchange between a mortal and the grim reaper: "Oh Death, oh Death/ I was just getting dressed/ The place is a mess/ I was hoping you'd forget" is answered with "Oh yes, oh yes/ Death never rests!" "Falling Apart (Right Now)" is extra twangy, delving deep into the canyons; "Ambulance" flirts with delicate fingerpicking; "Please Be Wrong" has an early '60s standard feel akin to Willie Nelson's "Hello Walls." There are lovely surprises, like the somber horns of "Darkness Is Cheap" (cribbing from Dickens' A Christmas Carol: "Darkness is cheap, and so Scrooge liked it.") And the lightly racing "Bird Without a Tail / Base of My Skull" features word-play lyrics like the lullaby "Hush, Little Baby," each line riffing off the previous: "When the sky began to roar like a lion at my door/ When my door began to crack it's like a stick across my back/ When my back began to smart, was a pen knife in my heart." © Shelly Ridenour/Qobuz https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkjYMiBkph8&list=OLAK5uy_lpbRHpWjbz_8CD724bQQ50uV_GudZE5gU&index=1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NY9ZQMdRAY4&list=OLAK5uy_lpbRHpWjbz_8CD724bQQ50uV_GudZE5gU&index=10 Download from HotLink https://hotlink.cc/folder/b9509e9d-ddd0-11ec-a2c7-0cc47ac4f47e

 14. Florence + The Machine - How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful (Deluxe) (2015) 96-24 Country: UK Genre: Indie Rock,Indie Pop Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [96 kHz/24 bit] Time: 01:09:45 Full Size: 1.55 GB The much-anticipated third studio long-player from Florence Welch and her mechanically inclined companions, How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful arrives after a period of recalibration for the spirited English songtress. Arriving three-and-a-half years after 2011's well-received Ceremonials, the 11-track set, the first Florence + the Machine album to be produced by Markus Dravs (Arcade Fire, Coldplay), eschews some of the bombast and water- and death-fixated metaphors of Lungs and Ceremonials in favor of a more restrained sonic scope and an honest reckoning with the dark follies of your late twenties. This change is most notable on the workmanlike opener "Ship to Wreck," a shimmering, open road-ready folk-rock rumination on the ambiguity/inevitability of post-fame self-destruction that, unlike prior first cuts like "Dog Days Are Over" and "Only If for a Night," feels firmly rooted in the now. Whether it be simple maturity or Dravs' calculated production style, there's no denying that an effort has been made to dial back a bit on some of the pageantry of Welch's earlier works, and for the most part, her penchant for pairing mystic Bronte-esque pondering with similarly windswept pagan/gothic gospel rock is left bubbling beneath the surface. This attempt to reign in Welch's more histrionic tendencies yields mixed results, with some songs finding the sweet spot between bluster and nuance and others (most of them in the album's sleepy latter half) disappearing altogether. Of the former, the bluesy (and ballsy) "What a Man," the propulsive and purposeful "Delilah," and the gorgeous title track impress the most. Instead of building to a fevered crescendo, as is the Flo-Machine way, the latter cut, a transcendent, slow-burning, chamber pop gem, dissolves into a simple and elegant, yet still goose-bump-inducing round of horns, and is breathtaking without knocking the wind out of you. Whether How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful ends up being a transitional album remains to be seen, as there is enough of each side of Welch (the pastoral and the feral) represented to tip the scale either way. That said, her Brit-pop soul treacle is still miles better than some of her contemporaries' top-tier offerings, and when the album connects it moves right in and starts to redecorate, but when it falters, it's akin to a chatty party guest failing to realize that everyone else has gone home. © James Christopher Monger /TiVo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9v8jLBrvug https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XgeKHTcufLY Download from HotLink https://hotlink.cc/folder/0f6b71a5-d2db-11ec-a2c7-0cc47ac4f47e

 17. Thunder - All the Right Noises (2021) 96-24 Country: UK Genre: Hard Rock Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [96 kHz/24 bit] Time: 48:21 Full Size: 1.05 GB Thunder return with the release of their 13th studio album 'All The Right Noises' on 12th March 2021. It's a return to the full-throttle sound of Thunder that has seen them carve out a hugely successful 30+ year career at the forefront of British rock. 'All The Right Noises' is an intense confection of illicit charms, but make no mistake, this album is 100% Thunder, and 100% rock. Recorded in the months leading up to the first Covid-19 lockdown, it was originally due for release in September 2020. 23. Bonnie Raitt - Dig In Deep (2016) 96-24 Country: USA Genre: Blues, Rock Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [96 kHz/24 bit] Time: 52:23 Full Size: 1.13 GB Listening through Dig in Deep, Bonnie Raitt's 20th album, the entire arc of her career becomes clear. In the early '70s she insisted on recording live in the studio with her road band. Later, various producers -- from Jerry Ragovoy to Peter Asher, from Don Was to T-Bone Burnett -- assisted in shaping her sound, often with great commercial success: she's sold nearly 20 million records. She's learned from them all. There have been downs, but each was balanced by a rise. In 2012 she ended a seven-year silence with the poignant, powerful Slipstream, co-produced with Joe Henry and released on Redwing, her own label. Dig in Deep was produced by Raitt, with the exception of "You've Changed My Mind, written by Henry specifically for her, and recorded in 2010. She wrote or co-wrote five of its 12 songs. The members of her fantastic road band are again her musical partners. Raitt's signature slide guitar is back out front; it shines throughout the recording. Her earthy singing voice, with just a hint of time's grain, is more disciplined and holds more emotional authority than ever before. It soars through a song collection balanced between rough, rowdy rockers and searing ballads. All of the material, regardless of tempo, underscores her title. The themes in these songs -- loss, betrayal, desire, regret, atonement, loneliness, resolution -- are all resonant. Opener "Unintended Consequence of Love" is a funky NOLA-flavored R&B groover complete with great breaks from drummer Ricky Fataar. The reading of INXS' "Need You Tonight" is more unruly than the original -- and way sexier. Raitt's distorted slide break is nasty, delicious in its aggression. The cover of Los Lobos' "Shakin' Shakin' Shakes" is a roadhouse boogie with teeth as Raitt's slide and George Marinelli's counter leads snake around one another. "I Knew," with its irresistible hook, wise lyrics, and beguiling melody, would have been at home on Nick of Time. Her "What You're Doin' to Me" juxtaposes gospel and blues via Mike Finnigan's Hammond B-3 and Raitt's pumping piano; the lyric is a celebration of unfettered desire. It's hard to believe the swaggering blues-rocker "Gypsy in Me" wasn't written by Raitt -- but one of her many gifts has been interpreting songs in such a way that they become inseparable from her persona. Her own choogling "The Comin' Round Is Going Through" is a scorching political rocker that takes on the one percent and foretells coming karmic consequences. It can communicate on a roadhouse dancefloor as well as in a concert hall. Two ballads, Henry's "You've Changed My Mind" and her own "The Ones We Couldn't Be," portray different kinds of vulnerability to what life extracts as it is being lived. Raitt's voice in both songs -- and indeed throughout Dig in Deep -- expresses unwavering honesty and unqualified acceptance. The aforementioned arc has come full circle: Raitt is now in full control of her career, delivering consistently great music as a result. © Thom Jurek /TiVo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNbXvD7J6y8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RZ5FFyIKY8 Download from HotLink https://hotlink.cc/folder/f78c5cc7-c530-11ec-a2c7-0cc47ac4f47e

 25. Tears For Fears - Tears Roll Down (Greatest Hits 82-92) (2020) 96-24 Country: UK Genre: Pop,Rock Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [96 kHz/24 bit] Time: 01:14:53 Full Size: 1.55 GB Capturing some of their chart-topping smashes and other key tracks, Tears for Fears marks a monumental career with their collection Tears Roll Down: Greatest Hits 82-92. Toward the end of the praise surrounding their third album, 1991's Seeds of Love, Curt Smith left the band. Roland Orzabal was left to sail the ship alone, and the strong success dwindled years later. However, this dozen-track compilation showcases some of the band's early tracks heavily dominated by pulsating bass drops and heavy synth beats. "Pale Shelter" and "Mad World" from their 1982 debut The Hurting moved toward the soul-defining musical maturation found on 1985's groundbreaking staple Songs From the Big Chair. The Top Ten hits are undoubtedly featured: "Everybody Wants to Rule the World," "Shout," and the more obscure "Mothers Talk." The luscious "Head Over Heels" cuts short of its closing guitar work, a disappointment in the grand scheme of Tears for Fears' synth-dominated sound. Such layered riffs separated the rawness from the fluffy new wave aspect. "Sowing the Seeds of Love" marked the band's own branded progressive rock & roll, but "Woman in Chains," the gospel-tinged cut featuring guest vocals from Oleta Adams, was their most spiritual effort. Essentially, the dozen-track collection is a perfect look at what Tears for Fears did for music during the '80s until the mid-'90s. They made new wave sound cool and melodically beautiful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WP1JT5yHllQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dCD1p0zPbs Download from HotLink https://hotlink.cc/folder/81bedadf-9582-11ec-a2c7-0cc47ac4f47e
