Hanazono Hikari è una studentessa liceale con un fortissimo spirito competitivo. Riesce bene sia nella scuola che negli sport ed è seconda solo a Kei Takishima che regolarmente la batte in tutto fin dall’infanzia. I due si troveranno a frequentare la stessa classe, una classe molto speciale in un altrettanto speciale scuola privata, in cui gli alunni sono divisi in sezioni alfabetiche a seconda dei loro meriti scolastici. In cima c’è ovviamente la sezione A e ancora più in alto c’è la “Special A” dove i sette studenti più brillanti del liceo passano le loro giornate in una gigantesca serra a sorseggiare thè e discutere tra loro.
