Deze plaat zou een weergave zijn van Lordi door de jaren heen. Het is een grap, want Lordi bestond nog niet in de jaren zeventig. Maar wat als Lordi al decennialang successingles schrijft? Met dat idee, de muziek van Killection, en de extra tijd die de coronaellende Mr. Lordi gaf, ging hij aan de slag met het schrijven van meer materiaal in stijlen waarvan Lordi zich normaliter niet bedient. Het resultaat is de boxset Lordiversity. Het zijn zeven albums met elk een eigen karakter. Elk van die platen past in een periode uit de muziekgeschiedenis. Het geluid is onmiskenbaar Lordi, maar verschilt dusdanig van de gebruikelijke shockrock en -metal dat het uniek klinkt. Het idee is in ieder geval bijzonder origineel. Met de geweldige titel Abusement Park blijft Lordi op dit hoofdstuk uit de Lordiversity-boxset dicht bij huis. De band bedient zich van glam-, sleaze- en hardrock in de stijl van onder meer W.A.S.P. en Twisted Sister. Geen onbekende invloeden wanneer je vaker naar Lordi luistert. Het is dan ook zeker geen onontgonnen gebied voor het kwintet. Helaas is het juist dit album dat wat tegenvalt. De periode waarop de Finnen hier teruggrijpen staat niet bekend om zijn virtuoze muzikale escapades. De doorgaans rechttoe-rechtaan songs hebben vaak weinig om het lijf met eenvoudige melodieen, dito instrumentatie en flauwe teksten. And frontman Mr. Lordi admits that he was had originally hoped to release 10 new albums, only to have that idea vetoed by the Finnish group's record label. Titled 'Lordiversity', the box set will be available as seven CDs, or seven vinyl records. Each album will see the former Eurovision-winninig Finns tackle a different genre: hard rock, disco, progressive rock, heavy metal, AOR, thrash/speed and industrial metal. The albums will be standalone available, and after 'Superflytrap', now it's the time for another standalone volume; "Abracadaver". Here Lordi makes their take on '90s-style metal. From its eccentric, spaghetti western-style intro to the face-ripping pure metal of songs like "Devilium" and "Beast Of Both Worlds", Lordi's mastery of all metallic trades is on full display. At times as heavy as prime Pantera, and full of "Painkiller"-era PRIEST-isms, it's a non-stop riot of razor riffs, gonzoid choruses and unexpected twists. We find bursts of everything from symphonic keyboards (on the grandiose but gritty "Evil") to swaggering, Southern-fried sludge riffs (the deeply gnarly "Acid Bleeding Eyes"). LORDI have never been a band for everyone, and this seven-album monstrosity is unlikely to win them many new converts, but if you do have that day to spare and really, really need cheering up, "Lordiversity" will absolutely provide. Besides the live cut of the show in Pratteln/Switzerland during their latest "Sextourcism" tour, the Blu-ray provides a lot of bonus material, including some real rarities. The Live show itself has a playing time of two hours. "We just cut a little bit of my stupid announcements on stage", so Mr. Lordi about the impressive duration. "Apart from that, everything that happened this evening ended up on this Blu-ray ." The choice of the Z7 is a matter of duration as well: There is no club that hosted LORDI as often as the location next to the German border. On every tour the band played, the musicians hit up in Z7. For that reason, the club became something like a second home to the Finns over the years. The issue of recording a Blu-ray is a premiere: Though there are some live records of LORDI, "Recordead Live - Sextourcism In Z7" is the first official Live Blu-ray, fully approved by the musicians. A plan that LORDI had been pursuing for years and finally were able to put into practice during the "Sextourcism" tour. Mr. Lordi about: "I am very happy that we waited until the "Sextourcism" tour, because we look amazing, the stage looks amazing and everything was perfect to create a stunning Blu-ray." The bonus material is stunning as well: Alongside a tour diary with LORDI, the Blu-ray provides all of the official video clips the band ever made.
