This set comprises two blu-ray audio discs and two CDs. The first blu-ray contains Steven Wilson's brand new Dolby Atmos Mix which is described as "more expansive than the earlier mixes as released in 2012, while still retaining and enhancing the core power of the original material". Since Wilson's Atmos process involves going back to the multi-track tapes and first building a new stereo mix and then a 5.1 surround mix, we are presented with three brand news mixes for this product. While Steven was working on this aspect of the material Alex R. Mundy and David Singleton were mixing every single take of the original studio sessions. These unreleased early takes are presented not as traditionally blended pieces, but with maximum separation, with the idea being to mimic the experience of sitting in the studio with the individual elements being performed around you. This reissue comes with brand new artwork that was commissioned and art-directed by Gala and Jamie Wright, Richard's children and managers of his estate. This time, the unidentified person in bright red shorts is swimming within deep blue waters of the sea rather than a pool and the image expands out to reveal a boat slightly out of their reach, referencing the nautical theme of the record. The image was taken by Costas Spathis, a photographer living and working in Greece, which is where the album was written and the graphic design is by Carl Glover. When originally released, post Pink Floyd's ANIMALS (1977) and shortly before THE WALL (1979), WET DREAM was largely under-appreciated. Steven Wilson's mix gives new life to the record demonstrating Wright's brilliance. He wrote and produced the whole album himself and it was one of only three albums released outside of Pink Floyd - BROKEN CHINA, his second solo album from 1996 and IDENTITY, released in 1983 under the guise of Zee, a duet with Dave Harris from Fashion. The blu-ray is presented in a blu-ray-sized book format with soft touch lamination and comes with four collectible postcards and an 8-page concertina booklet. Kosten also created a new stereo mix and the blu-ray also includes a new edit of the classic Tubular Bells intro which is also in stereo and Atmos. All four versions are only available physically via this SDE-exclusive Blu-ray Audio! Additionally, Mike Oldfield's 5.1 Surround Mix from 2009 is also included. That was only ever issued on DVD at the time, so it sees its debut here on Blu-ray as lossless DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. The four-channel Quad Mix was mixed by Phil Newell in 1975 and was issued on 2001 on SACD. It has some differences to the original stereo and 5.1 mixes, most notable the Viv Stanshall voiceover on 'Sailor's Hornpipe' at the end It has been unavailable since that time but is the third different spatial audio mix on this Blu-ray. The original stereo mix on the Blu-ray is as used on the new half-speed mastered vinyl and of course fans will be very interested in the Tubular Bells 4 demo.
