As Nils himself puts it in his notes for our Real Gone reissue of this classic record, My first self-titled solo album, affectionately nicknamed the Fat Man album [after the front cover photo], remains a colorful and dramatic chapter in my musical and personal life. And still, one of my best albums. Indeed, this 1975 release spawned a couple of instant classics in Back It Up and the Keith Richards homage Keith Don t Go (Ode to the Glimmer Twin), plus an exceptional cover of Carole King s Goin Back among its many high points. And while some fans familiar with Nils work with Grin and Neil Young were expecting more guitar flash, the spare production by David Briggs and the funky, sympathetic rhythm section of Aynsley Dunbar and Wornell Jones put the focus where it belonged: on the songs. The reputation of this album has only grown over the years, but its only recent appearance on CD in this country was on a long out of print limited edition release; our Real Gone version features liner notes from Nils that take you behind the scenes in the studio and even on the album art photo shoot, and adds some rare pictures to boot. You gotta have this one if you re a 70s rocker. This 1975 release spawned a couple of instant classics in 'Back It Up', 'If I Say It, It's So', 'Can't Buy A Break', the Keith Richards homage 'Keith Don't Go (Ode to the Glimmer Twin)', plus an exceptional cover of Carole King's 'Goin' Back' among its many high points. Bell went solo with Queen of the Night (featuring the U.S. number 97 "After Midnight") in 1974, followed by Suicide Sal, both of which charted in the U.S. Her only U.K. chart singles came with "Hazell" (number 37) in 1978, and a duet with B.A. Robertson, "Hold Me" (number 11), in 1981. The second and best solo album of the former soloist Stone the Crows, recorded after the tour in support of the successful debut album with the help of Peter Grant with guest participation of Jimmy Page (solo on If You do not know), and published on the label SwanSong. The record was more energetic and stiffer than the debut album, and is characterized by a feeling of "live" recording, reflecting the atmosphere of the concerts that Maggie and her band gave between the recording of the tracks of the album. The producer of this album, as well as the debut album, was also Jerry Wexler. The album was recorded at the studio of Ringo Starr, who often looked "into the light" during the recording. Suicide Sal is the stage name of Maggie's aunt, who was an extremely famous queen of the music hall in Scotland. The title track is written by Maggie with the help of her friends, the second is the author's song - If You Do not Know - written by keyboardist Maggie Pete Wingfield. Another track belongs to the pen of the former colleague of Stone the Crows drummer Colin Allen and Zuta Mani, the rest of the tracks are covers, including the Beatles track with a slightly modified text. The album sold well, but he enjoyed great popularity in America and Germany. The title track sets the mood for this stark album of hard rock with its combination of relentless guitar riffs, a throbbing, cowbell-driven beat, and an angry vocal from Dan McCafferty that denounces a "heart-breaker, soul-shaker." The end result is a memorably ferocious rocker that has become a staple of hard rock radio stations. The remainder of the album divides its time between similarly pulverizing hard rock fare and some intriguing experiments with the group's sound. In the rocker category, notable tracks include "Miss Misery," a bad romance lament driven by a doomy riff worthy of Black Sabbath, and "Changin' Times," a throbbing hard rock tune driven by a hypnotic, circular-sounding guitar riff. In the experimental category, the big highlight is "Please Don't Judas Me," an epic tune about paranoia that trades heavy metal riffs for a spooky, synthesizer-dominated atmosphere that is further enhanced by some light, Pink Floyd-styled slide guitar work. The American edition of this album also included a surprise hit for the group with their power ballad reinterpretation of the Everly Brothers classic "Love Hurts." However, the album's surprise highlight is a song that bridges the gap between the straight hard rock and experimental songs, "Beggars Day/Rose in Heather"; it starts out as a stomping rocker but smoothly transforms itself midway through into a gentle and spacey instrumental where soaring synthesizer lines support some moody guitar work. All in all, Hair of the Dog is the finest album in the Nazareth catalog. It is a necessity for both the group's fans and anyone who loves 1970s hard rock. © Donald A. Info Generali Cast Crew Trailer Amici miei 2 h 20 m 1975 Commedia Cinque professionisti cinquantenni: Perozzi (Noiret), Melandri (Moschin), Mascetti (Tognazzi), Necchi (Del Prete) e Sassaroli (Celi), sono amici inseparabili e burloni scatenati. Le loro avventure le chiamano zingarate e si svolgono nei pressi di Firenze. Il dottor Sassaroli ha conosciuto gli altri quattro quando questi, dopo un incidente, sono stati ricoverati nella sua clinica e da allora si è unito al gruppo. Nel loro mirino tutto e tutti (i passeggeri di un treno vengono schiaffeggiati), ma soprattutto il pensionato Righi, bersaglio dei loro lazzi perfino a un funerale. Affidato ad alcune maschere della commedia all'italiana il film è una galleria esilarante di scherzi (alcuni diventati proverbiali) e di battute. Concepito da Pietro Germi, venne però diretto da Monicelli a causa della prematura morte del collega e amico. Fu un grande successo di pubblico e vinse il David di Donatello nel 1975.
