1. Creedence Clearwater Revival - Bayou Country (1969) [2014] [192kHz/24bit] Country: USA Genre: Rock Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [192kHz/24 bit] Time: 34:03 Full Size: 1.21 GB Opening slowly with the dark, swampy "Born on the Bayou," Bayou Country reveals an assured Creedence Clearwater Revival, a band that has found its voice between their first and second album. It's not just that "Born on the Bayou" announces that CCR has discovered its sound -- it reveals the extent of John Fogerty's myth-making. With this song, he sketches out his persona; it makes him sound as if he crawled out of the backwoods of Louisiana instead of being a native San Franciscan. He carries this illusion throughout the record, through the ominous meanderings of "Graveyard Train" through the stoked cover of "Good Golly Miss Molly" to "Keep on Chooglin'," which rides out a southern-fried groove for nearly eight minutes. At the heart of Bayou Country, as well as Fogerty's myth and Creedence's entire career, is "Proud Mary." A riverboat tale where the narrator leaves a good job in the city for a life rolling down the river, the song is filled with details that ring so true that it feels autobiographical. The lyric is married to music that is utterly unique yet curiously timeless, blending rockabilly, country, and Stax R&B into something utterly distinctive and addictive. "Proud Mary" is the emotional fulcrum at the center of Fogerty's seductive imaginary Americana, and while it's the best song here, his other songs are no slouch, either. "Born on the Bayou" is a magnificent piece of swamp-rock, "Penthouse Pauper" is a first-rate rocker with the angry undertow apparent on "Porterville" and "Bootleg" is a minor masterpiece, thanks to its tough acoustic foundation, sterling guitar work, and clever story. All the songs add up to a superb statement of purpose, a record that captures Creedence Clearwater Revival's muscular, spare, deceptively simple sound as an evocative portrait of America. © Stephen Thomas Erlewine /TiVo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2zc4rSlBQ4 Download from HotLink https://hotlink.cc/folder/424aadde-3519-11ed-a2c7-0cc47ac4f47e
2. Creedence Clearwater Revival - Willy and the Poor Boys (1969) [2014] [192kHz/24bit] Country: USA Genre: Rock Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [192kHz/24 bit] Time: 34:46 Full Size: 1.24 GB Make no mistake, Willy & the Poor Boys is a fun record, perhaps the breeziest album CCR ever made. Apart from the eerie minor-key closer "Effigy" (one of John Fogerty's most haunting numbers), there is little of the doom that colored Green River. Fogerty's rage remains, blazing to the forefront on "Fortunate Son," a working-class protest song that cuts harder than any of the explicit Vietnam protest songs of the era, which is one of the reasons that it hasn't aged where its peers have. Also, there's that unbridled vocal from Fogerty and the ferocious playing on CCR, which both sound fresh as they did upon release. "Fortunate Son" is one of the greatest, hardest rock & rollers ever cut, so it might seem to be out of step with an album that is pretty laid-back and friendly, but there's that elemental joy that by late '69 was one of CCR's main trademarks. That joy runs throughout the album, from the gleeful single "Down on the Corner" and the lazy jugband blues of "Poorboy Shuffle" through the great slow blues jam "Feelin' Blue" to the great rockabilly spiritual "Don't Look Now," one of Fogerty's overlooked gems. The covers don't feel like throwaways, either, since both "Cotton Fields" and "The Midnight Special" have been overhauled to feel like genuine CCR songs. It all adds up to one of the greatest pure rock & roll records ever cut. © Stephen Thomas Erlewine /TiVo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3rWGUAnQek Download from HotLink https://hotlink.cc/folder/424aadde-3519-11ed-a2c7-0cc47ac4f47e

5. Frank Zappa - The Grand Wazoo 1972 (2022) 192-24 Country: USA Genre: Jazz Rock Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [192kHz/24 bit] Time: 36:59 Full Size: 1.49 GB "Waka-Jawaka" and "The grand wazoo" were recorded during the same sessions. For "Waka/Jawaka" the set-up of the band is mostly like a smaller jazz combo. That this album can occasionally sound as a big band nevertheless is due to the frequent overdubbing. Sal Marquez for instance gets credited for "many trumpets" during "Big swifty". "The grand wazoo" can be more truly using a big band, a band with which Zappa also made a short tour. In full the band ultimately involved twenty members. Both 1972 jazz albums have extended solos as well as large composed sections. Several blocks are relatively stable in their use of keys. More like "King Kong" than the modernistic "Uncle Meat main title" and the "It must be a camel" examples from the preceding sections. "For Calvin" on the other hand is very versatile. Despite of the quality of these albums, Zappa has not become well known as a jazz arranger. "Like its immediate predecessor, Waka/Jawaka, The Grand Wazoo was a largely instrumental jazz rock album recorded during Frank Zappa's convalescence from injuries sustained after being pushed off a concert stage. While Zappa contributes some guitar solos and occasional vocals, the focus is more on his skills as a composer and arranger. Most of the five selections supposedly form a musical representation of a story told in the liner notes about two warring musical factions, but the bottom line is that, overall, the compositions here are more memorably melodic and consistently engaging than Waka/Jawaka. The instrumentation is somewhat unique in the Zappa catalog as well, with the band more of a chamber jazz orchestra than a compact rock unit; over 20 musicians and vocalists contribute to the record. While Hot Rats is still the peak of Zappa's jazz-rock fusion efforts, The Grand Wazoo comes close, and it's essential for anyone interested in Zappa's instrumental works." 6. Frank Zappa - Waka / Jawaka 1972 (2022) 192-24 Country: USA Genre: Jazz Rock Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [192kHz/24 bit] Time: 36:09 Full Size: 1.44 GB When Frank Zappa found himself stuck in a wheelchair for most of the year 1972 (after a "fan" pushed him off the stage in December of the previous year), he relieved his band (including singers Flo & Eddie) of its duties and turned to studio work. One of the first things he tried was to write jazz fusion music scored for wider instrumentation than an average rock band. Waka/Jawaka was conceived in parallel to The Grand Wazoo, but with fewer players. The album, released in July 1972, is comprised of two extended instrumental pieces and two shorter songs. "Big Swifty," a theme-and-solos showcase, would become a live favorite, but the highlight came in the form of the orgiastic title track, recorded with ex-Mothers of Invention keyboardist Don Preston, trumpeter Sal Marquez, trombonists Bill Byers and Ken Shroyer, saxophonist Mike Altschul, bassist Erroneous, and drummer Aynsley Dunbar. The songs, never performed live, feel like filler material. Waka/Jawaka was Zappa's second solo album and is occasionally referred to as "Hot Rats II" (the handles of the faucets on the cover artwork show the words "hot" and "rats" instead of "hot" and "cold"). His writing and recording technique had matured a lot in very little time. The dirty blues jamming of the 1969 LP was replaced by clean, crisp jazz improvisations -- no need to say this was also an abrupt change in style from the Mothers' 1969-1971 incarnation. But this album was only transitional: Zappa's big-band stylings would really flourish in The Grand Wazoo a few months later. © Francois Couture /TiVo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxVmRg4faWM Download from HotLink https://hotlink.cc/folder/f4f6acaa-abdf-11eb-a971-0cc47ac4f47e

10. Neil Young - Harvest (50th Anniversary Edition) 1972 (2022) 192-24 Country: Canada Genre: Rock, Folk Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [192kHz/24 bit] Time: 01:16:38 Full Size: 1.82 GB As much for the wider public as for his great many fans, Neil Young's Harvest represents the pinnacle of his rich discography from the seventies. Founded upon country-rock and melancholic folk, the so-called Loner's art shines ever brightly throughout this fourth album, released back in February 1972. It is a gold mine full of bucolic, pastoral gems, recorded with a new group of brilliant musicians called the Stray Gators, with Ben Keith on steel guitar, Kenny Buttrey on drums, Tim Drummond on bass, and the great Jack Nitzsche on piano and arrangement. Harvest, which frequently displays his tumultuous relationship with actress Carrie Snodgress (mother of his first son Zeke) also incorporates some impressive somber moments, such as in 'The Needle and the Damage Done' - a stunning ballad about his guitarist Danny Whitten's heroin addiction, who died of an overdose in November that same year, just after being kicked out of the band by Neil Young. But behind the 'peace and love' bliss enhanced by contributions from David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash as well as James Taylor and Linda Ronstadt, Harvest remains a rich, tormented and melodically flawless work - one on which the violins of the London Symphony Orchestra ('A Man Needs a Maid' and 'There's a World') are handled with care and taste. It is an album that will influence many future generations, and which celebrates its 50th birthday with this luxurious edition decked out with an additional 17 tracks. His solo concert at the BBC on 23rd February 1971 will surely be a gem amongst collectors of Neil Young bootlegs. As a bonus, there are alternative versions of three tracks ('Bad Fog of Loneliness', 'Journey Through the Past' and 'Dance Dance Dance'). This 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition is surely a must-have. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fc3MeL4KSqo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZn9QZykx10 Download from HotLink https://www.keeplinks.org/p72/643996227c2b6
11. Creedence Clearwater Revival - The Complete Studio Albums (2014) [192-24] Country: USA Genre: Pop, Rock Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [192kHz/24 bit] Time: 04:04:47 Full Size: 8.66 GB This seven album set contains each of the hit albums from CCR plus booklet. Although they sounded like no other band, CCR redefined Rock 'N' Roll. They showed, in the most entertaining way possible, how the music could embrace elements of R&B and the Blues, Country, Folk, and Jazz, as well as a world of other musical forms. Creedence were pioneers in the fusion of Rock and Country and were `roots' before roots took hold as a music genre. Contains the HighRes editions of the albums: Creedence Clearwater Revival (1968) Bayou Country (1969) Green River (1969) Willy and the Poor Boys (1969) Cosmo's Factory (1970) Pendulum (1970) Mardi Gras (1972) Popular but not hip, basic but not shallow, rooted but not retro, Creedence Clearwater Revival distinguished themselves in the late 1960s and early 1970s through these contradictions. This seven album set is the definitive Creedence collection, offering superbly HighRes-remastered versions of all of their studio albums. The ultimate blue-collar rock band, John Fogerty and CCR found success by wholly giving in to their fascination with the American South (despite hailing from Northern California) and exploring the turf that connected R&B and country--the same turf that their heroes at Sun studios tilled at rock's birth. As the songs on the first disc prove, they hadn't always taken this approach though perhaps they should have: The first four songs from 1961 (by Tommy Fogerty and the Blue Velvets), original compositions in the classic '50s rock & roll style they loved, hold up better than subsequent Golliwogs tracks that attempt to replicate the British Invasion sound in vogue at the time. Still, the Golliwogs tracks offer hints of John Fogerty's menacing growl and biting guitar that would fully blossom later on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWxDGQm2hKk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9gMxcixhAU Download from HotLink https://hotlink.cc/folder/424aadde-3519-11ed-a2c7-0cc47ac4f47e

14. Neil Young - World Record (2022) 192-24 Country: Canada Genre: Rock Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [192kHz/24 bit] Time: 46:38 Full Size: 1.95 GB Given Neil Young's range and output, it's just as helpful to describe what World Record isn't before getting to what it is: It's not a previously unreleased studio album from the 1970s; an instrumental guitar album a la Le Noise or Arc; an Old Ways-style country album; a romantic stroll through Harvest Moon balladry; a Devo-inspired electronic rock album like Trans; or a mad-as-hell-not-gonna-take-it-anymore rager Ragged Glory. World Record, though, is notably ragged in its own way. Sounding like the band borrowed a friend's two-car garage despite being recorded at co-producer (with Young) Rick Rubin's Shangri-La studio in Malibu, it's a stripped down, stubbornly direct missive to a world in which Young has spent nearly eighty years. A hint of what's to come on his millionth studio album, in fact, arrives before he plays the first note. We hear a little studio chatter, drummer Ralph Molina counts off the beat and Young and Crazy Horse casually enter into a piano-driven mid-tempo song called "Love Earth." Sounding duct-taped together, the recording moves with a loping grace as Young opens with a couplet that's, well, pretty basic. "Love Earth/ And your love comes back to you/ Love Earth/ Such an easy thing to do!" What follows is an exploration of the Youngian worldview as moderated by Rubin and featuring Molina, guitarist Nils Lofgren and bassist Billy Talbot: Songs and lyrics about old and new love, a fragile planet, dreams both hopeful and dying, the end of war, the toll of strife, blue skies, sparkling waters, the rising and falling of the sun and "roads we left behind." A 15-minute muffler-free song about the morality-and thrill-of driving a gas-guzzling old Chevrolet? You betcha. This is the sound of Young doing Young-with the addition of the occasional pump organ and whatever multi-instrumentalist Lofgrin harnesses, be it lap steel, slide guitar, accordion or, on the glorious "The Wonder Won't Wait," what liner notes call "tap sweep percussion." Though a relatively varied mix of Young bangers and weepers, World Record is united by its seemingly casual approach. Molina or Young count off many songs, an indication that the band was working live in a room and not swapping digital files. One of the least precious records in his deep catalog, World Record seems to abhor sentimentality while embracing a screw-it-let's-let-loose ethos. The approach, however, does lead to an occiasional clunker. "Walkin' On The Road (To The Future)," opens with a telegraphed rhyme-"Walkin' on the road to the future is scary/ We want to make the best of the past and not tarry"-that could have been penned by a Neil Young AI song generator. But, really, such critiques are petty at this point. This is Young in his natural habitat, gazing and grazing as the world around him keeps spinning. © Randall Roberts/Qobuz https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTouMWlq754 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7o9V6h6PGU Download from HotLink https://www.keeplinks.org/p72/643996227c2b6

16. Sting - Mercury Falling [1996] (2022) 192-24 Country: UK Genre: Pop,Rock Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [192kHz/24 bit] Time: 52:16 Full Size: 1.98 GB Falling somewhere between the pop sensibilities of Ten Summoner's Tales and the searching ambition of The Soul Cages, Mercury Falling is one of Sting's tighter records, even if it fails to compel as much as his previous solo albums. Though he doesn't flaunt his jazz aspirations as he did in the mid-'80s, Mercury Falling feels more serious than The Dream of the Blue Turtles, primarily because of its reserved, high-class production and execution. Building from surprisingly simple, memorable melodies, Sting creates multi-layered, vaguely soul-influenced arrangements that carry all of the hallmarks of someone who has studied music, not lived it. Of course, there are many pleasures in the record -- for all of his pretensions, Sting remains an engaging melodicist, as well as a clever lyricist. There just happens to be a distinct lack of energy, stemming from the suffocating layers of synthesizers. Mercury Falling is a record of modest pleasures; it's just not an infectious, compulsive listen. © Stephen Thomas Erlewine /TiVo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jabxwMo3jQE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LI8khooPyJk&list=OLAK5uy_mkX5yKlCxvYay87VlCXvFESf1JeIQWmL8&index=6 Download from HotLink https://hotlink.cc/folder/d52eddb1-487e-11ec-a971-0cc47ac4f47e

19. Steely Dan - Can't Buy A Thrill [1972] (2022) 192-24 Country: USA Genre: Rock,Soft Rock,Jazz Rock Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [192kHz/24 bit] Time: 41:04 Full Size: 1.63 GB Core members, Donald Fagen and Walter Becker had been creating music together since 1967 after randomly meeting at a cafe. They would spend the next few years performing and writing songs for other artists, including 'I Mean To Shine,' for Barbra Streisand. One of their early incarnations included Chevy Chase on drums (yes, the comedic actor from the 'Vacation films). Producer, Gary Katz, who had hired the duo to do the writing for other artists, decided one day that their compositions were too complex for other artists to record, and so suggested getting a band together and recording themselves. They assembled a band, including the great Jeff "Skunk" Baxter on guitar later a member of The Doobie Brothers). Also brought in was vocalist, David Palmer, as Fagen suffered from stage fright and often would be unable to perform his songs live. The result was this, their debut record, a collection of some of the best Jazz/Rock songs. Really well written and performed by an incredibly tight band. Fagen would handle solo vocal duties on 4 of the tracks and share vocals with Palmer on 3 of them, while Palmer took the lead on 2 tracks. Drummer, Jim Hodder sang on 'Midnight Cruiser.' Two of Fagen's four songs were the singles, 'Do It Again' and 'Reelin' In The Years,' the later starting off (and continues throughout) with a ripping solo by session player, Elliot Randall, and in fact, was rated by Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page as his favourite guitar solo of all time. That's quite an endorsement. The song peaked at #11 on the Billboard Charts. 'Do It Again' charted at #6, making it their second highest chart for a single. 'Dirty Work,' another great song from the record features Palmer. The album is tight, with some of the best musicianship money can buy. A great collection of easy-listening songs. It's a real treat to listen to Walter Becker's piano playing, especially on 'Fire In The Hole,' and his interplay with the guitarists https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GaH25Sghoqc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmdiKePVUy8 Download from HotLink https://www.keeplinks.org/p72/63c8298774a35

24. Soul Asylum - Grave Dancers Union (2022 Remaster) 192-24 Country: USA Genre: Alternative Rock Format: FLAC (*tracks) Quality: Lossless [192kHz/24 bit] Time: 45:01 Full Size: 1.7 GB Grave Dancers Union is the sixth studio album by the American Alternative Rock band Soul Asylum, released in 1992. The album spent 76 weeks on the Billboard music charts and was certified triple-Platinum in 1993, establishing Soul Asylum as one of the most successful Rock groups of the first half of the 1990s. The album yielded the mega-hit "Runaway Train", which by winning a Grammy, put the band in a whole new league. "Soul Asylum's breakthrough, million-selling Grave Dancers Union yielded the mega-hit "Runaway Train" and put the band in a whole new league; longtime fans were predictably disappointed with the slick results. This is a solid alternative rock record with singer/songwriter/vocalist Dave Pirner upfront, a role he was built for but always seemed to resist until this clear do-or-die moment for the band. Soul Asylum did; however, they never matched the success or consistency of this album. Tracks like "Home Sick" and "New World" bear the roots of the country-rock revival later forged by Son Volt and Wilco, while the angst-ridden "Somebody to Shove" is pure joy Soul Asylum-style."
