Il clan ninja di Iga e Koga condividono una lunga tradizione di odio reciproco e il solo motivo per il quale attualmente non sono impegnati in una sanguinaria faida è l'imposizione, da parte dello shogunato, di un patto di non aggressione. Gli eventi narrati hanno origine diversi anni prima quando, in mezzo a tanto odio, inaspettatamente nasce un sentimento d'amore tra due giovani. Il loro sogno dura poco: gli eventi precipitano e i due saranno costretti a vivere separati, divisi dal loro scomodo ruolo e dall'odio provocato da una nuova insensata guerra, guidando i rispettivi clan.
