Nell'Inghilterra vittoriana un devastante incendio doloso uccide entrambi i genitori di Ciel Phantomhive il quale viene rapito. Durante la sua prigionia stringe un contratto con un demone: la sua anima in cambio di vendetta. Il demone diventa così il maggiordomo del giovane al fine di proteggere e servire Ciel, aiutandolo nei suoi compiti di cane da guardia della regina fino alla conclusione del contratto .
