Dopo averne trovato la mappa, Rufy e la sua ciurma decidono di visitare l'isola di Omatsuri, dove tutti gli abitanti hanno una strana piantina sulla testa. Il capo di quest'isola è il barone Omatsuri, che li sfida ad affrontare dure prove in cambio dell'accesso a luoghi per rilassarsi e questi accettano. In realtà il barone molti anni prima era il capitano di una ciurma pirata ma un giorno tutti i suoi compagni erano stati uccisi; ha iniziato così ad odiare tutti i pirati fra i quali c'era un forte legame e, cercando di separarli, li attira sulla sua isola e li fa tutti mangiare a parte il capitano dal Giglio Garofano, una grossa e mostruosa pianta situata sulla sommità di un monte. Grazie all'energia assorbita dalla pianta, il barone riesce a mantenere in vita i suoi compagni uccisi tempo fa. Dopo aver affrontato e vinto le prime due prove, il rapporto di amicizia fra i protagonisti inizia ad affievolirsi e iniziano quindi a scomparire.

Dopo che Nami si ammala, la ciurma giunge sull'isola di Drum in cerca di un dottore e si reca in cerca di Kureha, l'unica rimasta sull'isola. Giunge però sull'isola anche Blik Wapol, il sovrano dell'isola che era fuggito dopo l'arrivo della Ciurma di Barbanera. Questi cerca insieme al fratello maggiore Musshūru di sconfiggere Rufy, che vuole impedire loro di riprendere il controllo dell'isola. Anche la renna TonyTony Chopper, l'assistente di Kureha, che in passato era stato allievo del dottor Hillk, ucciso da Wapol, partecipa al duro scontro ed infine Rufy grazie ai Gear sconfigge i due. La ciurma riparte dunque dall'isola di Drum dopo aver convinto Chopper ad unirsi a loro come medico di bordo.

La giovane Hitomi Kisugi (Sheila Tashikel nell'edizione italiana) gestisce il caffè Cat's Eye (Occhi di gatto) con la sorella maggiore Rui (Kelly) e quella minore Ai (Tati). Il bar è una copertura: Hitomi e le sue sorelle formano una celebre banda dedita al furto di opere d'arte, anch'essa chiamata Cat's Eye, che così firma i biglietti da visita lasciati sulla scena dei furti. Le sorelle Kisugi tuttavia non si dedicano al furto per lucro: rubano esclusivamente opere d'arte appartenute a Michael Heinz, famoso artista degli anni '40, che è il loro amato padre scomparso. Esse sperano di ricostruirne la collezione, che era stata loro sottratta dai nazisti, e individuare sufficienti indizi per poterlo ritrovare. L'investigatore incaricato delle indagini per la loro cattura, Toshio Utsumi (Matthew Hisman), è anche il fidanzato di Hitomi e non sospetta minimamente delle tre sorelle: scoprirà per caso e con sorpresa che la banda è composta da donne. Il rapporto di Hitomi con Toshio procura a Occhi di gatto complicazioni e vantaggi: Hitomi riesce a estorcere a Toshio informazioni riservate, grazie alle quali la banda riesce quasi sempre a farla franca, fuggendo con la refurtiva.

Durante il furto di un quadro, Matthew si dimostra molto più preparato del solito e Sheila rischia di venire vista da quello è che il suo fidanzato, tanto che nella ritirata non riesce a recuperare l'opera, ma solamente la cornice. Kelly, allora, svela alle sorelle che era proprio la cornice ciò che interessava a loro. 33: Duplice obiettivo

Kelly, Sheila e Tati, allora, rubano un dipinto del padre in cui la firma è stata cambiata da un impostore traditore del padre per deviare i sospetti. Matthew infatti, alla fine, pensa di avere sbagliato tutto il ragionamento. 34: Sulla pista giusta

Sfortunatamente viene ucciso prima di poter rivelare loro la tanto attesa notizia, ma Kelly e le sue sorelle scoprono comunque che il padre è a Parigi, e decidono di partire subito alla sua ricerca. La storia ruota intorno ad Erika Shinohara, una ragazza vanitosa di sedici anni che racconta alle sue amiche le sue gesta romantiche, ma che in realtà non ha un fidanzato. Erika dichiara infatti di stare insieme a un bellissimo ragazzo ritratto in una foto, ma la sfortuna vuole che proprio quel ragazzo si riveli essere un suo compagno di scuola piuttosto popolare di nome Kyōya Sata. Incastrata in questa situazione imbarazzante, Erika decide quindi di tentare il tutto per tutto facendo diventare Kyōya il suo finto fidanzato, cosa che disgraziatamente non fa altro che peggiorare le sue condizioni: Kyōya infatti, all'apparenza un ragazzo dolce, è in realtà un tipo ultra sadico senza cuore che, subito dopo aver scoperto ogni cosa, sfrutta le debolezze di Erika per trattarla letteralmente come un cane.

Momonga, uno dei giocatori più forti, esegue il login per l'ultima volta per assistere alla fine del servizio, durante il conto alla rovescia chiude gli occhi e ripensa a tutti i bei momenti passati con i suoi compagni. Quando li riapre però, Momonga scopre che il logout non è avvenuto e che, anzi, egli stesso è stato catapultato nel gioco sotto forma del suo personaggio, uno scheletro. Tutt'altro che sconvolto, da questo momento in poi il suo unico obiettivo sarà conquistare il nuovo mondo in cui è rinato.

Momonga, uno dei giocatori più forti, esegue il login per l'ultima volta per assistere alla fine del servizio, durante il conto alla rovescia chiude gli occhi e ripensa a tutti i bei momenti passati con i suoi compagni. Quando li riapre però, Momonga scopre che il logout non è avvenuto e che, anzi, egli stesso è stato catapultato nel gioco sotto forma del suo personaggio, uno scheletro.
