Nelle viscere della metropolitana di New York circola il "treno dei soldi": è un piccolo convoglio blindato, protetto da agenti speciali che fa il giro delle varie biglietterie, prelevando gli incassi del giorno. Il desiderio di impadronirsi del convoglio lo ha fatto Charlie, giocatore jellato con le carte e indebitato per questo con una banda. Il treno non è mai stato assalito e depredato, ma il guaio è che Charlie si trova di fatto ad essere uno degli agenti a terra, impiegato come altri a fare da esca nelle stazioni per bloccare ed arrestare borseggiatori e teppisti, e questo mascherandosi all'uopo.
