Killer Kings is a musical alliance between Gregory Lynn Hall (ex-101 South) and Tristan Avakian (ex-Red Dawn, Queen Extravaganza). Killer Kings first came about when Frontiers Records president Serafino Perugino thought of bringing Gregory Lynn Hall, the former singer of 101 South (an AOR band who released three albums between 2000 and 2009) and Tristan Avakian, a very gifted guitarist who made his name in the 90s with the melodic rock band Red Dawn, together. Musically, Killer Kings mixes the AOR approach of both Red Dawn and 101 South with some interesting twists. Gregory Lynn Hall has had a long history in the music industry, in all areas from studio work to live performances. Gregory pounded the pavement in the thriving 80s Hollywood rock scene, playing at all the rock venues from Gazzaris to the Troubadour to The Country Club. He eventually left L.A. after the 80s hard rock scene died down and became a session vocalist, singing on many well-known Christian artists' albums. In the late 90s, he returned to California and in 1999, while doing a session in Malibu, he met Roger Scott Craig (ex-Fortune) and thus 101 South was born. Shortly after the first 101 South album was finished in 2000, Gregory was asked to join the band Heaven & Earth as their bass player and toured with them to support the "Windows To The World" album. He would then go on to record two more acclaimed 101 South albums and one solo record in 2014. Tristan Avakian is a professional musician of many years with extensive experience in theatre, touring, writing and producing. Cirque Du Soleil, Lauryn Hill, Mariah Carey, Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Biohazard are just some of the names from the varied genres and artists he has immersed himself in. He has also worked with producers such as Steve Thompson and Rob Thomas and joined the Queen Extravaganza show in the US. The songs was written and produced by Victor Olsson. Drums were recorded at Nordic Sound Lab in Skara by Mikko Viitala and Victor Olsson. The cover artwork was created by Markus Vesper, who also handled the art on the previous two albums. The album features a guest appearance from the Swedish pop group One More Time. Its members are the singers Nanne Grönvall, one of the most beloved and popular artists in Sweden, Maria Rådsten and Peter Grönvall, the son of ABBA's Benny Andersson, on keyboards. Their first single Highland, 1992, hit the charts all around in Europe. In 1995 they composed a song for the Swedish Melodifestivalen, "Det Vackraste" that won a grammy for best song of the year, and in 1996 they won the Swedish Melodifestivalen and represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest with their song "Den Vilda", which ended in 3rd place. Gathering Of Kings are the successful project built by Ron & Nina Dahlgren, bringing together top musicians from the current hard rock scene in Sweden. The idea was to create an AOR/Melodic Hard Rock project/band like Tom Galley's Phenomena or even Tobias Sammet's Avantasia, with multiple vocalists and instrumentalists. Victor Olsson quickly became the main songwriter. Back In The World Of Adventures was the band´s first proper album together and was released in 1995 to wide critical acclaim in the progressive rock community. The line up on the band´s debut featured keyboardist Tomas Bodin, who was the perfect match for the adventurous Stolt. Saxophonist Ulf Wallander contributes his own special brand of magic to the mix while drummer Jaime Salazar keeps the rhythm together with consummate cool. "Roine Stolt's voice is strong, full, passionate, and delightfully accented. The Flower Kings' lyrics are heady, compelling, and hook city. The guitar work is extremely melodic and rates right up there with anything Brian May or David Gilmour has offered. Stolt is expertly meshed in this band with brother Michael on bass and voice. Tomas Bodin excels on Hammond organ, Mellotron, piano, and flute. Hans Bruniusson plays percussion alongside Jaime Salazar on drum kit, while Ulf Wallander guests on sax. The ten songs here are split between five instrumentals and five featuring great vocals mingled with extended instrumental bridges and a variety of sonic excursions. Each piece is a rocking, swirling matrix of multifaceted sound, with the opening "World of Adventures" a particular highlight. Take the best of Crack the Sky, Pink Floyd, early Genesis, and the slick cool pop/rock of Queen and Prince's 1999, mix everything together in the cauldron of Stolt's vision of world peace, and out comes a fresh batch of magic."
