Descrizione Colpisci la pallina, scuoti il tavolo, sfrutta i respingenti... tutte tecniche che i maghi del flipper usano per lasciare le loro iniziali in cima alla classifica dei punteggi. The Pinball Arcade riunisce alcuni dei tavoli da flipper più rari e più impegnativi mai realizzati, riproponendoli in tutto il loro splendore di suoni e luci. La qualità della simulazione è notevole e palesemente figlia della passione: i tavoli sono riprodotti nei minimi dettagli, vanno a riproporre ogni singola caratteristica meccanica ed elettronica degli originali e si basano su una gestione fisica della pallina molto realistica. Al netto dell'ovvia mancanza di feedback fisico, si ha sempre l'impressione di un corretto comportamento degli elementi di gioco e non capita mai di rimanere insoddisfatti per qualche movimento strano della pallina, come fra l'altro confermano diversi campionissimi del flipper chiamati a dire la loro e a cimentarsi con la simulazione. La cura per le minuzie si riflette anche nell'aspetto sonoro: ogni singolo rumore, compresi quelli più penetranti e fastidiosi, è lì al suo posto, pronto a trapanarci le orecchie. He was there during the Cubbies' historic World Series win of 2016, singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the seventh inning stretch of Game 5, an honor for a fan who held the team dear since a child, but earlier in the season, he and Pearl Jam saluted the Cubs with a pair of August concerts at Wrigley Field. Let's Play Two is a concert film documenting that stand and it's accompanied by a live album, which is Pearl Jam's first mass-market live album since Live on Ten Legs. That 2011 release was a compilation of highlights but this focuses on a particular residency, and the difference is a matter of concentration. Here, it's easier to focus on how Pearl Jam seem strong and settled, enjoying their immense power but also sounding quite relaxed in their passion. It's an appealing blend and one that helps highlight the consistency of their catalog, since the newer songs feel like good fits alongside the chestnuts -- old songs that don't seem worn, since it's clear the band and audience gain sustenance from the music. That warm-heartedness -- which may be accentuated due to Vedder playing at the home of his team, surrounded by fans who love the band and the Cubs -- seems deeper than it has on previous live Pearl Jam albums, but maybe that's a reflection of the band's middle age. Descrizione Questa è un po' l'essenza di Sonic Mania, un gioco che rende omaggio al porcospino blu di SEGA unendo le vecchie glorie del passato appartenenti a Sonic The Hedgeohog, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles e Sonic CD con extra creati appositamente per l'occasione. Il risultato è un titolo divertente e completo, che affonda le radici nella fan base del porcospino blu: a dar vita al progetto sono stati infatti un gruppo di sviluppatori capitanati da Christian Whitehead, personalità particolarmente attiva nella community di Sonic, tanto da farsi notare e collaborare con SEGA al porting mobile dei vecchi capitoli della saga. Senza dimenticare l'attenta supervisione del Sonic Team di Sega, possiamo dire che Sonic Mania è un gioco che nasce "dai fan per i fan" e ci teniamo a sottolineare questo aspetto non solo ai fini della recensione ma soprattutto perché lo stesso Sonic Team ha definito cruciale per il futuro del franchise il lavoro fatto con Mania. Una volta scelto uno tra i tre eroi selezionabili (Sonic, Tails o Knuckles) saremo pronti ad iniziare la nostra partita e dopo un breve filmato introduttivo dove vengono presentati i nuovi robo-cattivi del Dottor Eggman ci ritroveremo dove tutto è iniziato, a Green Hill Zone. Compreso il primo iconico livello, il resto della partita si sussegue attraverso altre undici zone seguendo la suddivisione tra primo e secondo atto. Il gameplay è esattamente lo stesso dei vecchi capitoli per SEGA Mega Drive: lo scopo del gioco è completare gli schemi nel minor tempo possibile, raccogliendo anelli, salvando il percorso fatto presso i check point e collezionando attraverso degli stage bonus i sette Smeraldi del Caos. Come in passato ogni personaggio ha a disposizione il suo set di abilità speciali, quindi Knuckles plana arrampicandosi sui muri, Tails vola e nuota mentre Sonic, oltre a poter utilizzare tutte le abilità fornite dagli scudi, potrà servirsi di uno spin dash rapido. Le singole abilità dei protagonisti andranno a variare leggermente le possibilità di percorso portandoci quindi a esplorare di volta in volta zone diverse a seconda del personaggio scelto. All'interno del livelli sono sparse poi le classiche TV che offriranno al giocatore velocità extra, invulnerabilità, anelli, scudi, vite e power-up, indispensabili considerando la fitta schiera di nemici presenti, che una volta annientati aumenteranno il nostro score... e libereranno l'animaletto intrappolato all'interno. Questa importante parte del gioco è l'unica rimasta invariata perché tutto il resto ha visto pesanti modifiche. Una delle primissime cose che salta all'occhio durante la partita è la presenza di tutti i power up in tutti i livelli, anche fuori dal loro contesto "temporale"; per questo motivo nei livelli appartenenti al primo e secondo capitolo troveremo ad esempio scudi bolla, elettrici e di fuoco appartenenti ai capitoli successivi. Altra importante differenza è visibile nei due stage bonus che forniranno al completamento come ricompensa Smeraldi del Caos e monete d'oro e d'argento; i primi potranno essere recuperati completando uno stage bonus simile a quello di Sonic CD, dove dovremo rincorre una navicella e vi si accede attraverso gli anelli giganti sparsi per i livelli. Passando un check point con almeno 25 anelli avremo invece accesso allo stage delle sfere blu di Sonic Yhe Hedgehog 3 e in base alla nostra performance potremo guadagnare una moneta d'argento o d'oro. Per chiudere la parentesi bonus è essenziale specificare che la recensione è stata scritta portando a termine una partita senza collezionare né gli Smeraldi del Caos né le 32 monete d'oro: siamo certi che questi collezionabili sblocchino dei contenuti speciali, del resto possedere tutti gli Smeraldi del Caos permetteva in passato ai personaggi di trasformarsi nelle loro "versione Super", ma ad oggi non possiamo dirvi con precisione quali siano gli extra sbloccabili. Gone are the arty detours (some call them affectations) that alternately cluttered and enhanced their albums from 1993's sophomore effort, Vs., all the way to 2002's Riot Act, and what's left behind is nothing but the basics: muscular, mildly meandering rock & roll, enlivened by Eddie Vedder's bracing sincerity. Pearl Jam has never sounded as hard or direct as they do here -- even on Ten there was an elasticity to the music, due in large part to Jeff Ament's winding fretless bass, that kept the record from sounding like a direct hit to the gut, which Pearl Jam certainly does. Nowhere does it sound more forceful than it does in its first half, when the tightly controlled rockers "Life Wasted," "World Wide Suicide," "Comatose," "Severed Hand," and "Marker in the Sand" pile up on top of each other, giving the record a genuine feeling of urgency. That insistent quality and sense of purpose doesn't let up even as they slide into the quite beautiful, lightly psychedelic acoustic pop of "Parachutes," which is when the album begins to open up slightly. If the second half of the record does have a greater variety of tempos than the first, it's still heavy on rockers, ranging from the ironic easy swagger of "Unemployable" to the furious "Big Wave," which helps set the stage for the twin closers of "Come Back" and "Inside Job." The former is a slow-burning cousin to "Black" that finds Pearl Jam seamlessly incorporating soul into their sound, while the latter is a deliberately escalating epic that gracefully closes the album on a hopeful note -- and coming after an album filled with righteous anger and frustration, it is indeed welcome. But Pearl Jam's anger on this eponymous album is not only largely invigorating, it is the opposite of the tortured introspection of their first records. Here, Vedder turns his attention to the world at large, and while he certainly rages against the state of W's union in 2006, he's hardly myopic or strident; he's alternately evocative and specific, giving this album a resonance that has been lacking in most protest rock of the 2000s. But what makes Pearl Jam such an effective record is that it can be easily enjoyed as sheer music without ever digging into Vedder's lyrics. Song for song, this is their best set since Vitalogy, and the band has never sounded so purposeful on record as they do here, nor have they ever delivered a record as consistent as this. And the thing that makes the record work exceptionally well is that Pearl Jam has embraced everything they do well, whether it's their classicist hard rock or heart-on-sleeve humanitarianism.
