Il ragazzo viene incaricato di proteggere Kaname Chidori, una normalissima (e bellissima) studentessa liceale giapponese, che in realtà nasconde inconsapevolmente un grande segreto. Kaname infatti è una Whispered, e nel suo cervello è custodito il segreto della Black Technology, una tecnologia talmente sofisticata da rendere obsolete perfino le armi nucleari.
