These fresh but familiar songs quickly caught the attention of metal listeners worldwide, notably with the first single '¨The Conqueror' amassing over 200,000 video views and over 600,000 streams on various streaming platforms. In early 2020, the band held their first headlining show in Helsinki, which attracted fans from all over the world to attend the show in a packed On the Rocks club. This success quickly led the band to continue performing live, opening for prime moving metal bands Ensiferum and Beast in Black. Consisting of guitarists Esa Orjatsalo (ex Dreamtale) and Mikko Salovaara (Kiuas), bassist Sami Hinkka (Ensiferum, ssSHhh), keyboardist Benji Klint-Connelly (Everfrost) and drummer Atte Marttinen (ex Kivimetsän Druidi). It was announced however in 2022 that former vocalist Mikael Salo (ex Thy Row, ex Dyecrest) would no longer be the band's singer. On the same day, the band's new vocalist Aitor Arrastia hailing from Spain was announced along with the announcement of the band's upcoming second full-length album, Land of the Rising Sun Part 1. Originally recorded over two sessions back in 2013 - one over a harsh Berlin winter in the Brian Jonestown Massacre studio with Fabien Leseure, and a second back in Leeds with early Telescopes producer Richard Formby - it's a lost treasure that nearly never was. Succumbing to a hard-drive crash nearly a decade ago, the sessions were presumed lost and soon forgotten, until now. Miraculously rescued from the digital ether and finished by founding member Stephen Lawrie in his own studio over the pandemic, the album is now finally set for release in February 2024 via Fuzz Club and reveals another side to where The Telescopes were at in 2013. Where their physical output at the time mostly consisted of experimental noise improvisations, so far removed from any obvious structure, 'Growing Eyes Becoming String' shows how The Telescopes - Lawrie backed by London experimental unit One Unique Signal - were actually creating more song-based music in a parallel existence. Across its seven tracks are all the trademarks of quality that longtime fans associate with The Telescopes' music. Talisman had a major hit with the song "I'll Be Waiting" and released several studio and live albums. Unfortunately, Marcel took his own life on July 21, 2009. The remaining members of Talisman, Jeff Scott Soto (vocals), and Pontus Norgren (guitars), have written the song "Save Our Love" as a tribute and in memory of Marcel Jacob and the music they created together. Talisman's drummer, Jaime Borger, also plays on the song, and it features guest appearances by Mic Michaeli from Europe on keyboards, Johan Niemann (Evergrey) on bass and BJ (SOTO) on backing vocals.
