Toriko è uno di questi cacciatori ed il suo sogno è quello di trovare prodotti alimentari più buoni che esistono nel mondo per creare il menu più delizioso. E' un cacciatore abilissimo egli è regolarmente assunto da ristoranti e ricchi per cercare nuovi ingredienti e animali rari. Toriko ha capacità sovrannaturali, egli utilizza la sua incredibile forza e la conoscenza del regno animale per catturare bestie rare con l'obiettivo di realizzare il menù più delizioso mai preparato. Toriko all'inizio della storia conosce il timido chef Komatsuche, lui è un abilissimo chef, quindi è bravissimo a cucinare prelibatezze.
