Abel Morales è un intraprendente proprietario di un'azienda a conduzione familiare che tratta in olio combustibile. Da qualche tempo alcune sue cisterne vengono prese d'assalto da malviventi che le fanno sparire nel nulla con il loro carico. Ciò accade proprio mentre Abel sta per portare a termine l'acquisto di un deposito più grande che gli permetterebbe di compiere il salto in avanti professionale da sempre sognato. Deve trovare il denaro necessario per completare l'acquisizione e contemporaneamente un'indagine da lungo tempo avviata sulla sua attività sta per giungere a compimento con gravi capi di imputazione: Abel sa di essersi sempre comportato in modo corretto ma ora il tempo stringe e potrebbe essere tentato di cercare altre strade.
