I giovani si ritrovano vestiti con abiti e accessori tipici di alcune classi del gioco (cavaliere, ladro, mago, acrobata, barbaro, ranger) e vengono dotati dal Dungeon Master di alcuni oggetti magici in grado di aiutarli nel loro nuovo "ruolo" e nel primo scontro con i cattivi del cartone, ovvero il demone Venger e il drago policefalo Tiamat. Durante la storia i personaggi cercheranno informazioni sul modo per poter tornare nel loro mondo, aiutati nella loro missione da un cucciolo di unicorno e dalle (a volte ambigue) missioni dategli dal Dungeon Master. The kids seek out the evil man, who is trying to steal all the horns from unicorns to harness the teleportation powers they possess. But they find themselves too late to save Uni, who is now weak and hornless. The kids free all the de-horned unicorns and ask to be taken to the Valley of the Unicorns so they can protect the remaining three from the Kelek. Esistono tante tipologie di queste armi speciali quante di armi convenzionali e vengono denominate Magic Staff. Gli incantatori utilizzano queste formule magiche per combattere i “mostri dalla forma aberrante”, creature naturalmente capaci di usare le formule magiche, spesso contro gli esseri umani. Queste creature, draghi, eoni o colossi, rappresentano un pericolo per l’umanità. La storia segue le vicende di Gaius Sorel e Gigina Ashley-Bufh, gli unici due dipendenti dell'ufficio di dispaccio dell’Ashely-Bufh & Sorel Co., che dovranno soddisfare varie richieste di vari clienti e tutte comporteranno l'uso dei jushiki.
