Djibi vive da solo con Sofia, la figlia di 8 anni per cui ogni notte inventa una storia per farla addormentare. Quando Sofia finalmente dorme, le storie prendono vita: in un mondo immaginario, cavalieri, pirati e altri draghi si muovono per salvare la principessa (che è sempre Sofia) e per essere d'aiuto o di impedimento al coraggioso principe (che altri non è che Djibi). Tre anni dopo, l'ingresso di Sofia nel college segna la fine della sua infanzia e le storie di Djibi non hanno più ragione di essere. Mentre nella realtà Djibi dovrà rassegnarsi alla crescita di Sofia, nel mondo delle favole il suo principe dovrà affrontare la più epica delle sue avventure.
